If your anti-virus or anti-spyware program has complained about a file on your PC called compstuic.dll - you have a nasty virus called Win32.Delf trojan. We'll show you how to remove the infection from your computer.

You should bookmark or print this page before proceeding.

(Special thanks to OddJob for his contributions to these instructions)

Step 1: Run Win32DelfKil

The first step is to download Win32DelfKil here. Once it has downloaded, double-click on the file. You may see some text in German - don't be alarmed, the author is German. After this step, everything is in English. Click the button marked Installeren (Install).

You will see a folder created on your desktop called win32delfkil. Open that folder and double-click on the FIX icon (it may be called FIX.BAT).

After the program runs, your computer should reboot itself automatically. If not, go ahead and restart your computer.

Step 2: Run Online Virus Scanners

Now run the Panda ActiveScan virus scanner and the Housecall virus scanner as detailed in Step 1 of our guide to Get Rid of Spyware, Adware, and Web Browser Hijackers. Only then can you be completely sure than your computer is clean from infection.

You should now be free of Win32.Delf and compstuic.dll - however, you may have additional spyware on your PC. These things tend to travel in packs ;) Go through the rest of the instructions in the Get Rid of Spyware guide to remove any other infections, and to protect your PC from future spyware.

If you have been referred to this Tutorial from the help forums:  please find the C:\windelf.txt file. Open it in notepad and copy & paste the contents in your next post in the forum.
