My internal speakers in my laptop don't come on anymore. The external speakers work fine. I have an HP Pavilion laptop and Windows Vista Home Premium. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

no answers after 24 hours? strange!
personally, i prefer to start easy, so try this:
Unplug the external speakers and test again.
if not:
right click the speaker icon next to the clock
choose 'open volume mixer'
ensure the sound slider is all the way up and the mute box is not ticked for each item in there.
if still no sound, get back to us. |

next you need to see if there is a problem with the sound card,
1, click the start orb
2, click control panel
3, make sure 'classic view' is selected
4, click 'system'
5, left hand pane, click 'device manager', user account control will activate, click 'continue'
6, look down the list for 'sound, video and game controllers'
is this section expanded at all? any warning signs? [!] or [?] icons?
if so, right click the items with warning signs, and choose 'properties'
click 'driver' tab
first try to 'update driver'
then test for sound
if this has no effect or is not available, try rolling back the driver option
again, test functionality
if still nothing, uninstall the driver, and restart your pc. follow the 'found new hardware' prompts once the pc restarts.
if there is no warnings or expanded sections, go back to control panel, choose the 'sound' tab and make sure the 'internal speaker/headphone' section is selected, and not disabled.
If the above steps do not resolve your problem, post back. |

No messages, no warnings, no flashing lights, and definitely no sound. |
