computer shuts down

hi i use p4 desktop. i am recently having this strange problem. my pc shuts down suddenly and restarts without any notice or error message. i have chacked the connections and wires they are ok. sometime my monitor become black although there is power and cpu running normally. what is the problem? pls help. when i am starting the computer on it shows a msg memory runs at a single channel. i have never seen this typy of msg during boot up.

It would help to have the exact message you're getting. Your description of a p4 desktop gives us very little information of what kind of PC you have or what operating system you're using (XP?).

Suggest you go here http://www.help2go.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemi d,32/page,viewtopic/t,27614/ and download and run the programs suggested. Your problem could be something as simple as doing a good cleanup or perhaps you have a virus. Post your findings to this thread .. thanks.
