I'm thinking about buying one of them all-in-one fax/copier/scanner/printer. Will I need to order a second phone line for the fax machine? (we don't intend on using it very often). What exactly is a scanner? Is that how you email pictures, documents, etc?
What should I be looking for in a printer as far as specs are concerned? _________________ sailor
I have the brother all-in-one and have had no problems it is not a color printer and is a laser jet meaning I do not have to buy ink cartridges I choose that because I use it alot and the cartridges on printers can start to add up in cost, I do not use the fax feature, to my knowledge you do not need a separate phone line to fax, now that I have Vista installed the scanning feature works even better it automatically converts the scan to a jpg file so you can e-mail it if you need to... in xp I use to have to save it to paint convert to jpg ect... perhaps I was doing something wrong all I know it is a lot easier with Vista..
Here is the model # mfc7420 you can google that #.
PS if you use dial-up not sure how all the fax stuff works.
For faxing I use a seperate program called E-Fax Messenger it is not free, and is done using e-mail with an assigned fax #. _________________ You're only as safe as your last up-date.
Zep, I'll probably do what you did and buy a unit with fax built-in, although I'll rarely use it. I can't justify getting another line when I may only have to fax twice a month. (maybe I can start a service with my neighbors for a nominal fee, just kidding). Yeah, I'll include the fax cause you never know.
By the way, are you a Zep fan? I just registered with their official website yesterday. Been a big fan for most of my life. _________________ sailor
