When rebootiing computer, I received the following message:

Overclocking failed.

Please enter setup to reconfigure system.

I have limited technical understanding of computers;
however, I can follow recipe-like, step-by-step
instructions.

I would be most grateful for any help you might
provide.

The first and most obvious question is- Did you overclock your computer? If you did, you have put settings in place that the computer can't handle. If that is the case, just go back and undo what you did. Overclocking is usually done in the computer BIOS. If you didn't overclock it, did you install new software or hardware just before having the problem? A system restore might take care of that.

A word about overclocking. It is basically like hot-rodding your car. It can be made to go faster, but it will put added strain on something and could lead to a potential problem. If you must overclock, I would not go more than 5% faster unless you really know what you are doing.

On April 28th, I requested help from this site with the
following problem:

When rebootiing computer, I received the following message:

Overclocking failed.

Please enter setup to reconfigure system.

I have been away from my home here for some time.

On my return. I learned the name of a highly regard
tech person from this area who solved my problem.

His explanation for the difficulty exceeded my capacity
to understand.

His claim was this:

The 'overclocking' error message was not the problem.

Within minutes, he had the problem fixed with the following:

Click F1 to enter setup

Immediately click "Save & Exit"

The computer rebooted......

The problem has remained solved over
the past week.

I am forwarding this information thinking
that it might be the solution for some
other members with the same or similar
problem.
