I need to set up a 2nd monitor and keyboard in a room adjacent to my office. It needs to be cordless. What's the best hardware setup to manage this in the least expensive way?

Using Wirelss monitors in a way you describe is very new and expensive, like over $1000.
read the article at http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/0,39020351,2106537,00. htm

Bluetooth may be the way to go but again nothing WiFi is cheap
