When submitting a post, you will see under your User Name, a title, an avatar, date you joined H2G, the number of posts you've created since joining, Points earned and finally your location if you choose to specify where you live.
Your title is directly related to your points earned. You earn points from other members of Help2Go by clicking the notice at the bottom of a post ' Click here to say thank you' . There are two main reasons for this feature. The first obviously, is to thank a member or members who have helped you solve your problem, the other is to identify a post (whether in your own post or some other post) to acknowledge that the information given has been helpful or you feel it is deserving of recognition. You will note, if a post is given 2 or more recommendations, the colour of that post changes, this is to identify posts that have helped more than just the original poster and is worth taking note of.
Now to the title under your User Name. As a sign of recognition and thanks to those who have helped other members, the points earned are used to identify and rate those who have given of their time and expertise to the membership in general. This in no way should be used to compare one member's abilities to another's. There are members who have lower points than others, but their knowledge of computers is as much if not more than someone with twice as many points. The points reflect a combination of any of the following : the time a member has been with us, how many posts they've made helping others, and more, to how much of their personal time they are able to devote to Help2Go.
The points as they relate to Title are:
0 - 14 Member
15 - 29 Tech
30 - 74 Advanced Tech
75 - 149 Guru
150 - 349 Advanced Guru
350 - Supreme Guru
Other titles are not based on the point system, such as Moderator, Spyware Fighter etc. |
