Hi ..I've been following the steps to remove Spyware, Adware, etc. The following is the log from the Activescan ...please note I couldn't get the scan to run from the link ...I received a message saying Oops! we have a problem...for several days, however, by going to their homepage I could run the scan from there. Results are as follows:
Threats disinfected with the paid version (4)
Low danger level (4) adware/keenval... Adware Latent Hide + Info
1. c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.bho

Cookie/Server.... Tracking Cookie Latent Hide + Info
1. C:\Documents and Settings\Susan Allen\Cookies... allen@server.iad.liveperson[1].txt

Adware/Opensit... Adware Latent Hide + Info
1. C:\Documents and Settings\Susan Allen\Desktop...kups\backup-20040727-174718-585.inf

Cookie/did-it Tracking Cookie Latent Hide + Info
1. C:\Documents and Settings\Susan Allen\Cookies\susan allen@did-it[2].txt

By the way , I think it's pretty sneaky of them to offer a "free" scan, and then when they have you upset and nervous tell you you have to buy the remedy. Confused

I have not been able to run Housecall ...neither the 6.5 version nor the 6.6 version will run ...6.6 appears to be loading (small circle moves) but nothing happens. They suggest checking if signed activex are enabled ...mine says "Prompt" in system tools, but no prompt appears. As always thank you for all your help.
Sue

Hi and welcome Atlante!

Until an anti-malware expert can look at your log, you should follow our updated malware removal instructions.

After installing and running that software, reboot, and see if you are still having problems. If the problems persist, create and post a new HijackThis log.

The following is the scan I received when I ran the scan per removal of spyware and ad-aware directions. If the titles of the files mean what I think they mean, I'm really embarrassed....I'm sure they aren't anything I'm interested in , but, I'm not the only one who uses this computer. I'm hoping they arrived on my computer through some other way than someone looking at them .... Rolling Eyes ------------------------------------------------------- --
