Hello,
In my OE folder, I have the following progams listed:
msimn
oemig50
setup50
wab
wabmig
I was told by someone in the OE newsgroup that setup50 and wabmig are not supposed to be there and are potentially dangerous and he suggested I ask at a computer help forum.
I have run CCLeaner, Super Anti-Spyware, and Avast and neither of the last two flagged these two items. I also used HJT and the Help2Go Detective, which also didn't say these were a problem.
Since the OE expert knows what should and shouldn't be in the OE folder, I figure they should be removed, but I'd rather wait for comments here before doing so.
FWIW, I've included the HJT log below.
Thanks !

I just did a search on my PC and found setup50 and wabmig both in C:\Program Files\Outlook Express. As long as they're in this file they should be fine.

Hi, Canuck
Thanks for responding.
I'm kind of the middle man in all this, but the OE expert provided the following links from which he inferred that something was amiss:
http://www.prevx.com/filenames/X2960213490471218102-0/W ABMIG.EXE.html
http://www.prevx.com/filenames/37043888263891614-0 /!I!SETUP50.EXE.html
He also wants to wait with any further suggestions regarding repairing OE until I hear back about the HJT log I submitted. Would you say that it is clean ?
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks again !

I'm afraid you'll have a long wait for a HJT expert to take a look, we, among many other similar sites are very short handed with HJT experts. I ran your log through our Detective, and it doesn't pick up any malware, but we are the first to say that the detective isn't the definitive answer/proof. That's about all that we can tell you for the time being.
