I want to buy a new CPU for playing computer games...

I saw that, many people chose E6850 or Q6600 , which one is better? Some people said that core4 CPU always has high temperature when operating, and it consume a large electricity...so I am confused to choose one of them...

I also find that Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 and E8200 are being hot...

I have no idea to buy the new CPU...can anyone give me suggestions?

The Q6600 being quad core will be more future proof. Not too many games fully utilise 4 cores yet but they will.

You can get these CPUs relatively cheaply now. They overclock to 3GHz on air very easily. Make sure you get the "G0 Stepping" variety as these run cooler & use less power.

They still run hot compared to duo's though but even @ 3GHz temp is well within safe parameters. Make sure you get an air-cooler up to the job. Have a look at http://www.quietpc.com/ to get an idea on coolers (you dont need to buy from there but they tell you which coolers are good for which CPUs).
