Heard today, 1Apr04, that Goggle will be starting its own E Mail, possible today. At least what the radio said. Guess they are trying to get some business away from Yahoo.

I have no other info.

I will probably give it a try, especially if they offer free large e mail storage.

Besure to click on "Learn More" down at the bottom. On the next page there is a place to submit your e mail address to learn more.

Yep, 1 gig of space, and it's free!!! Only thing is that they "look" at your email giving you search results for what you and your friend are talking about. Example: You and a friend keep emailing each-other about snowboards, google will then "email" you results about snowboards.

Yep, you're right Jason. The price you pay is your privacy .. mine's worth more than 1 gig of space. Sounds a lot like the free IBM's they're giving away in the UK!!

I am writing to Websters to have the definition of the word "Free" altered.
Free when relating to add ons when you purchase something should be defined as "Included in inflated price"
Free as in anything to do with the net defined as "Real costs are hidden"

I don't know how I'd ever make use of a gigabyte of space. How many average e-mails would that hold 50,000 - 80,000? It would depend greatly on file attachments I suppose. Perhaps it would get used for e-mailing music files, or attachments with video content. That might need a good bit space. The advertising price paid for Google's service might be considered by some to be a fair trade-off under those circumstances. Think of the upload and download times though!

I'll be giving it a miss I reckon. My ISP's POP e-mail works good enough for my requirements. I can check this via their website from anywhere in the world so just don't need anything else ...least of all something that targets e-mail content with advertising.

I agree with all that has been said. Will have tons of spam/pop ups.

But my only use would be as secondary E mail. My current secondary E mail is Yahoo. Any surfing I do I sign into Yahoo first, but I am now getting 300-400 junk/bulk e mails a day Sad. If I don't delete every day or so my mail limited is reached.

I have 2 family members that can't seem to figure out how to change my mail address to my primary e mail address, so I am forced to check it all the time. One of these family members I am very close to, i.e. WIFE Laughing
She doesn't seem to understand how to change it. I guess someday I will have to visit her work place and change it my self.

I believe that in life nothing is truly free, everything thing has a price.

Bah, Google is my friend, as long as they aren't having actual people look at my mail and it's just the computer i'll be fine. I might switch from my main email account(hotmail) and go to Gmail.
