Hi all,
I have implemented a new rating system (point system) for our forum! It is simpler than the old one, and much faster, so please recommend posts that you deem worthy!
You'll notice that all forum posts now have some text underneath them that says "This post has X recommendations" - this is a count of all the times that post has been recommended in the past.
If you are logged in, you'll also see a "Recommend This!" button underneath. Simply pressing this button tells the Help2Go server that you recommend this post, and it adds 1 point to the poster's total. It uses a fairly new web technology called "AJAX" to update the points on the fly. You will need Javascript enabled (and a fairly recent browser) in order for this to work.
At this time, you can only assign 1 point - it makes the system a bit easier to manage. Clicking the button more than once will not assign multiple points - one point per user per post.
Obviously, you can't recommend your own posts.
And of course, I am monitoring this, so don't try to abuse the system...
At some future date, I'll be snazzing up the graphics of the button, so it's not so plain-jane. If you spot problems, please do not hesitate to post them here. All feedback is welcome!
Thanks! _________________ Oscar Sodani

Hi osc
I just recommended your post... hope you don't mind
It was definitely due for an overhaul...
I immediately refreshed the page and the point had been added to your total.... excellent.
We can no longer see who has recommended the post though ?

I'm testing the option to see who has rated your post as we speak
Still having a few problems with it though, so I can't promise it until after the new year...
EDIT: Never mind - I figured it out. There's a WHO? button now which tells you who rated the post... |

Yup! You're right, Osc, there is a who button... but... it doesn't seem to do anything
EDIT: Slap on the wrist for not paying proper attention, ME, that is. I was waiting for the page to change, which of course it doesn't. Much better. _________________ I know everything about nothing, nothing about everything and precious little about the bit in between.

I couldn't agree more. Only problem is it's 2pm here in the UK. _________________ I know everything about nothing, nothing about everything and precious little about the bit in between.

First one is I have an erroneous score of 1 Is there a way to clear this?
Second is, sometimes when there are 2 recommendations but when I click on "who" only one name appears

No, not really. Some one thought one of your post was worthy of a "pat on the back",good enough for us.

Do you have a URL for the particular post, that this is happening ?

Hi BG,
Both issues occur on the same Thread:
http://www.help2go.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemi d,32/page,viewtopic/t,16987/highlight,/
The first is on the first page and the recommendation is definately one made in error. It is a nothing post
The second issue involves the recommendations I gave for helpful posts when it was the old rating system. Maybe they doubled when the data base was transferred over? |

The first recommendation was made by a new member, perhaps he didn't understand the criteria for a recommendation ... however, you have been given it, perhaps not deservedly then, but your honesty and forthrightness certainly deserves a recommendation!!
As for the double rated one, you are right. The old system you could rate as Recommended (1 point) or Highly Recommended (2 points), you must have given the post a Highly Recommended status, which is fine. |

Okay now I can see it there and it won't bother me so much
