Yes - those searches are the same. There's another one (I promise to consolidate these soon) in the center-left of the page, under the logo, just above where it says "Help2Go Forum Index -> Computer Help" - that will search the forums...
The favicon came with the software - one of these days i'll revert to the old one with the smiley face. |

A couple of things that I have noticed are:
I find myself having to sign in, even though I never, ever log out. My cookies setting are the same as ever.
Also, many posts appear to the direct right of the "Shout/Main Menu" boxes, while other do not appear until the bottom of these boxes. This leaves the area directly across, from the Main Menu/Shout box totally blank. Is this just me ?

For the logout, the system automatically logs you out after 1 hour of inactivity. If you set the "remember me" checkbox in the login box on the left, that should set the cookie to keep you logged in -- I think
For the layout issue, I'm working on that at this very moment. I'm afraid it's specifically an IE thing. I can't duplicate the problem in Firefox, so I'll chalk it up to imcompatibilities in the way each browser handles CSS layout code. I'm trying to create a work-around for IE. |

I have set the "remember me" checked every time.

I think I've fixed both problems (the login and the layout)
Please let me know if you see any other forum posts that look strange. Right now, it's set so that Firefox puts posts with superlong URLs in a scroll-able view, while IE automatically breaks up the word. It's the best compromise I can come up with... |

I wonder if there are any firefox extensions that will wrap the long links. I'll go look. |

HI osc
Don't want to go on about the search... but ... we are talking about the same one...
On the "all forums" page, it's below the HELP2GO and next to the profile button... & if you search for anything which is not in a post from the last 6 days you get No topics or posts met your search criteria ... and it will find nothing over 6 days old...
Search for winfixer (there have been dozens of posts about winfixer popups) = No topics or posts met your search criteria
There's definately a problem with the login as BG says as well, I keep having to login even though I don't log out...
--
at the top is a loginbutton
at the bottom is a login etc, button
at the side is a log outbutton next to HI steamwiz (if I'm NOT logged in... how does it know who I am ?)
above that, I am NOT listed as on-line
to the right of that I am listed as on-line (this may be because I have been active in the last 5 minutes... but not now)
Anyway.. I close the page and open it, and login again and it's OK ... and then after several pages I suddenly find I'm logged out again...
As BG says the "remember me" button doesn't appear to do anything... I've cleared all my temporary internet files and cookies, so no problem there... _________________ Look here for Ways to keep your computer safe

update
After reading your last post osc....
I have remained logged in for the last 10 minutes ... I've been crossing boxes off & opening them again ... & I'm still here ... so that problem looks as though it's resolved
The layout is still not right _________________ Look here for Ways to keep your computer safe

Ahhh! Right you are... sorry about that!
Will try to figure that one out - the search engine might have to get a kick in the pants...
-Fixed the post numbering.
-For layout, can you guys post URLs (and which browser you are using) so I can troubleshoot these? Thanks! |

OK, those are going to be harder to fix, so I start on those tomorrow.
There still may be a few tutorials out there that don't appear correctly in IE - it's because the screenshots in the articles are too big. If you happen to notice any, please post the links here.
(I should have tested more extensively in IE before launching the site - IE has so many weird layout bugs... grrrrr) |

One other thing osc...
The posts are now numbered, but you can't click on them to get a direct link... _________________ Look here for Ways to keep your computer safe

Oh - I disabled that on purpose because it globs up the search engines... is it something you would prefer to have? |
