Based on the response so far, I'd like to give our new venture a try! This forum will be the place to discuss and coordinate how we're going to get it done...
I've made the new site live, so everyone can see how it works for themselves: http://www.help2go.com. I'm going to move the old articles over as quickly as I can. If you have suggestions or criticisms for the site, please let me know -- this site is going to be as much yours as it is mine.
Right now we're using PHP-Nuke 6.0. Version 6.5 should be out shortly, which provides one major new feature: it integrates phpBB (the forum software you're using right now) into the rest of the site. Until it comes out, we'll have to deal with separate logons for the site and the forum. I'm working on trying to get a pre-release copy of the software.
The old Help2Go site is still there, just slightly hidden: http://www.help2go.com/indexold.php
If you'd like to be a part of this new venture, you can get started right away. Pick a topic you'd like to write about, write it up and submit it using the "Submit Article/News" link. Let me know if you need any help at all. Once you submit it, we'll post it on the home page as a new article.
If you can't think of a topic you want to write about, look through the old site (the link is above) -- there's dozens of tutorials there that are hopelessly out of date and need a rewrite (most of the Buying Guides fall into the hopelessly outdated category). Rewrite it and post it.
Also: if you know of other sites that might be helpful to a newbie, or if you find an interesting news story on the web somewhere, post that too! Also, check out the Journal feature -- you can create your own blogs there.
As we progress, I'll try to take myself out of the equation as much as possible, so that you can post articles and have others vote whether it gets posted or not (like Kuro5hin).
What do you folks think? _________________ Oscar Sodani

Just make a section with txt files of all the posts and replies then someone can search for a word they can then read the text file but the articles are great idea |

Unit there already is a way to just search the posts for a certain word. The problem there is it isn't always what you need. Try on the home page doing the google search for say... Norton and see what you get
This way there can be specific "How-To" guides to answer commonly asked or detailed questions without needing about 20 posts to take care of it. |

The only way to fix this is to change your name, but try something close to what you want eg Linda1 or Lindy or give yourself a new handle. I'm sure you must have come across the same problem when signing up for other sites. |
