Hello,
A few months back I installed a new, updated video card, DVD-R (DSmile drive and a 1GB memory stick. This solved the problem I was having with a video game and the D: drive was busted anyway. Shortly after that I tried to play a movie on my D: & tried my E: as well with a few different DVD player programs and got a blue screen with white lettering as follows:

"Windows has been stopped to prevent further damage.
Check for adequate disk space. If driver is identified in the stop message, disable driver or check with manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with hardware vendor for BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

***STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF288075, 0xB31BBC2C, 0x00000000)

***nv4_disp.dll-Address BF288075 base at BF012000, Datestamp 46ee3c9a

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete"

I run Win. XP on a Dell E510
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
2.99 GHz, 3.00GB of RAM

I got this from Microsoft but don't know where to start with it:
"Run any diagnostic tests supplied by the hardware manufacturer to verify that recently added hardware devices are operating properly. This is especially important if you recently added or changed random access memory (RAM) in your system. New or changed memory should also be tested with the Windows memory diagnostic test after using the manufacturer's test."

Thanks.
P.S.
What do you think of Windows Live One Care? Once in while I d/l Ad-Aware and always have stuff to dump that WLOC never seems to notice but it won't let me keep the program in my pc.

turquoise122,

See the link I looked at the problem from the ( nv4_disp.dll) point of view it appears to be driver related, or the ram recently added may be problem, can you take that stick out you added and see if the problem goes away so many blue screen errors are caused by wrong drivers installed or bad ram...

http://byronmiller.typepad.com/byronmiller/2005/10/stup id_windows_.html

So I would reinstall the driver for the video card from the manfactures site first. No luck there pull the stick of ram you added...
