Galena, Gloriana is supposed to be Fantasy actually. Its a really really really odd book. If you're interested at all: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/746538
Also a friend has it right now but let me know if you may want to do the bookcrossing thing. Basically you get sent the book, you read it and make a journal entry on it then pass the book along to someone else and ask them to do the same. _________________ To do is to be - Socrates

That work PartieHonteuse used "Practitioner"
Reminded me of why I don't like most Doctors. After all who want to go to someone who is in a practise. I want someone who has finished practising. _________________ Take control of your life. Leave others to control their own. |

I used to read lots. Stephen King and Terry Pratchett being a couple of my favorite authors. Various factors in life seem to have got me out of the habbit of reading. It must be years since I read a book from cover to cover. Silence is a requirement for me to read a book and that rarely happens these days.
The regular bed time reading period vanished when Mrs Mart44 had her road accident. She now has difficulty comfortably holding a book for any length of time, so the TV stays on instead. Maybe I should use my early rising time to read a book instead of turning on the computer. Hmm ...well, maybe not |

I got all the Harry Potter books as they came out for our grandaugter; I have read them all and enjoyed them
On the other hand she loves the Tolkien films and has just been to see 'Two Towers', she saw the first two as well, both of us found the Tolkien books unreadable, worse than 'War and Peace' which I have tried to read for thirty years and never got past a chapter or so, I must be a 'Penny Dreadful bloke' Cheers Jim.

mart44 -- I'm with you -- I've read every Stephen King book, and at least a dozen of Pratchett's. King's latest in the Dark Tower series (Wolves of the Calla) is nothing short of brilliant. One of those books that as soon as you finish reading, you want to start over again.
If you haven't read them, I highly recommend the Dark Tower books -- they are a fantasy epic - nothing like his horror novels. |

There's some Terry Pratchett qoutes from 'Moving Pictures' here. I haven''t read this one but it's typical Pratchett-speak. Amusing stuff. I must get back to reading again one of these days. |

Never could get into Terry Pratchett books but read masses of Stephen King. Rose Madder - must be one of the most bizarre things ever written. Ain't books brilliant one mans meat is another mans poison. Regards -Bob _________________ I know everything about nothing, nothing about everything and precious little about the bit in between.
