I operate W7 with MS IE8. For some reason I cannot log in to my ISP account (Waitrose) from my home computer. Message comes up saying invalid user name or password -but both are definittely correct. I have no problems logging in from work computer (also W7 + IE8). I have spoken to the Waitrose technical support but they cannot find the reason. I assume that I need to adjust a setting or two somewhere. Can anyone help?

Two years ago Spanair flight JK-5022 crashed, killing 154 of 172 on board. According to El Paris (via Google Translate), this was at least in part due to a PC located on the ground in the headquarters of the airline. That computer was supposed to sound an alarm signal when three similar technical problems registered on the same device. While the plane that crashed had accumulated three incidents, they were not registered in time because the system was infected by malware (trojans).

Investigators believe this may be the cause of the crash. The judge said that if these three incidents had been identified earlier, the plane never would have taken off.
As we’ve known for some time, Microsoft had already begun work on Windows 8 before Windows 7 was completed.

Kinda makes you slow to care about Win 7 upgrading

None - the - less...I have upgraded all my computers to Win 7 and so far ...so good...I like win 7
It appears though, that one specific Microsoft employee was not too careful with their LinkedIn profile, and had accidentally leaked some interesting details regarding Windows 8. According to his LinkedIn profile, which seems to have had many of its details removed, Robert Murdon has been working at Microsoft since January 2002. Windows News managed to catch this on the Microsoft employee’s LinkedIn profile before it disappeared:
“Robert Morgan is working to get IA-128 working backwards with full binary compatibility on the existing IA-64 instructions in the hardware simulation to work for Windows 8 and definitely Windows 9.”
“Robert Morgan is using Hestia (custom software package) for experimenting with the processor for scientific analysis and 3D graphics. Error: Memory Latency? Always gotta be a challenge barrier, it’s gotta be a bug in Hestia. right?!”
“Robert Morgan is frustrated with process standards and regulations! Delays Delays!”

Murdon seems certain that we will see 128-bit compatibility with Windows 9, while it appears that whether we will see it in Windows 8 or not is still uncertain. Coincidentally, many do believe that Windows 7 will be Microsoft’s last 32-bit OS. So could this mean we will see Windows 8 come in 64-bit and 128-bit flavors?

Hi,

My computer keeps freezing when I start it up. It runs for about 3-4 minutes and then freezes. I have noticed a blue screen which comes up really quickly, the only thing I can see on it is Crash Dump???

If I then turn my computer off and restart it, it comes up with the following:
'One of your disks need to be checked for consistency'?
CHKDSK is verifying files - then it runs through stages 1-3.

I have run SuperAnti Spyware in safe mode and there were 237 'threats' which I have now removed.

I then ran Malware and nothing came up.

I ran HijackThis and got the following log:

For the past 3 weeks or so i have two main problems with my internet connectivity. These are:

1) Internet connection wont connect due to (i think)
a) ERROR 734
and/or b) ERROR 721

When i go to Help and Support on my computer and attempt to cure these errors with the specified methods, it doesn't make a difference, and i have to restart the computer.

2) Internet connection is lost. At any time, the connection is lost and when i go to a webpage a page is shown with "Page Cannot be Displayed", the computer does not recognize that it is disconnected, and when i try to disconnect it, it is not disconnect. Therefore i have to restart the computer again, to get the connection going again.

I run on the dial-up modem Speedtouch 330 and my computer is running on Windows XP Home Edition 2002.
I have run virus programmes including Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AVG Anti-Virus and
Advanced SystemCare but to no effect. No virus is ever traced.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

We’ve had Windows 3x, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Vista and now Windows 7. Why did Microsoft choose 7 and not Vista II or Windows 2009? It’s a basic question with a simple answer? Why would anybody be interested? Well, if you use Google’s predictive search system that reveals the number of times a question has been asked on the search site you discover this: Why is Windows 7 called Windows 7 – 789,000,000. It’s not an uncommon question!
During its embryonic stages the OS we now know as Windows 7 was codenamed Blackcomb and Vienna. Unlike Vista however the new systems was intended only as an evolution. Vista, lest we forget, was a revolution. And though it’s a truth universally acknowledged that Vista hasn’t been a hit, a reactance to tar the new OS with same brush doesn’t completely answer the vexing ‘7’ question.
Microsoft’s Mike Nash completes the story on the official Windows Team Blog:

“The decision to use the name Windows 7 is about simplicity. Over the years, we have taken different approaches to naming Windows. We've used version numbers like Windows 3.11, or dates like Windows 98, or "aspirational" monikers like Windows XP or Windows Vista. And since we do not ship new versions of Windows every year, using a date did not make sense. Likewise, coming up with an all-new "aspirational" name does not do justice to what we are trying to achieve, which is to stay firmly rooted in our aspirations for Windows Vista, while evolving and refining the substantial investments in platform technology in Windows Vista into the next generation of Windows. Simply put, this is the seventh release of Windows, so therefore "Windows 7" just makes sense.”
No Folders Called Con

You can’t create a folder called ‘Con’. Open up Computer, your hard disk and right click to create a new folder. Give it the name ‘Con’ (without the quotation marks) and, following an error, the folder will default to New folder. Strange. Weirdly this ‘feature’ is also a relic which harks back to older versions of Windows too. Try the same trick in Windows XP, for example.
