I recently found out that Threatfire was originally launched in Europe as CyberHawk, something we tested a long time ago. It was eventually rejected as a viable alternative to more conventional anti-malware software due to constant and numerous problems.
Those included an inability to work alongside other AV programs like AVG, Kaspersky and Avast - particularly the Webshield option, blocking the installation of extensions into Firefox, blocking installation of other AV software, blocking Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, and a general slowdown of the entire system due to its intrusive nature.
I'm sure some or all of those will sound familiar. Maybe if I'd bothered to look into it when first mentioned here, you wouldn't have had your problems. But when software relaunches itself under another name, it's hard to keep track.
You know I had that program for most certainly over a year with no problems then it decided to turn on me. It was originally recommended by a Staff Member over on WTT during the time we were putting together Preventing Malware - Safe Computing, one from Europe who is well versed in tech matters.
Being on a home Network when it did turn, it really did a good job of it to destroy my systems thoroughly.
