Alice and Emile went for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and they order the 'Chicken Surprise.' The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot. Just as Alice is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down. n.

'Good grief, did you see that?' she asks her husband, Emile. He hasn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. Emile reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down. Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.

'Please sir,' stammers the waiter, 'what you order?'
    Emile replies, 'Chicken Surprise.'

'Ah! So sorry, is mistake' says the attendant, 'I bring you Peeking Duck!'

In our home tough love vs. spanking was always the argument when raising my boys.

Most people think it improper to spank children, so I had tried other methods to control my boys when they had one of "those moments."

One that I found most effective was for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod , etc..

Either way, my boys usually calmed down and stop misbehaving after one of our car rides together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with one of my boys, in case you would like to use the technique. I have found that this works quite well with grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as well.

FYI Donna, we found out quite a few years ago that taking problem kids (one on one) for a car ride was an excellent way to get them to open up. Our psychologists and youth workers found it a great method.

You are certainly right Canuck. I've had the pleasure myself to work with problem kids. That's all they want is attention and many don't get that at home.

For the record.....that is a bad joke and I would never do that to any child.

I find that problem kids respond to lots of attention. Keeping them standing to attention for 5 or 6 hours can help quite a lot.

My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.
She was not happy with what she saw and said to me,
"I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly.
I really need you to pay me a compliment.'

I replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect."
    And then the fight started

    Car rides? Pyschologists?

Nope, as well as liking his children fried, I reckon WC Fields got it right :

Madam, there's no such thing as a tough child - if you parboil them first for seven hours, they always come out tender.

    Ok...time to change the subject!

A woman called the Canon help desk with a problem with her printer. The tech asked her if she was "running it under Windows." The woman then responded, "No, my desk is next to the door. But that is a good point. The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window, and his is working fine."

A woman calls the tech helpline because her new PC will not boot up.

Man: Hello, welcome to the helpdesk, can i help?
Woman: Yes, hi, my new computer wont start
Man: Is this a desktop or laptop?
Woman: Its a desktop i believe, it has one of those big box thingies under the desk. a man helped fix it up yesterday, and all was ok, but this morning i can't turn it on.
Man: Ok, have you checked to see if all the wires are securly fitted at the back?
Woman: i've checked the T.V thing, thats fine, but i cant see the back of the box.
Man: Can't see? just ease it forward and see if you can see better. its the Black "Kettle" type lead you are looking for.
Woman:i've eased it right forward, i still cant see.
Man: can you feel? it should be near the top of the bo...er..tower.
Woman: ahh, yes, i feel it, yes, its in securly.
Man: Follow it back to the wall. is it plugged in there?
Woman: 'grunt, groan' yes, its in, and yes, its switched on.
Man: this is strange, could you look on th back of the tower to see if there is an "On/Off" switch?
Woman: I've already told you. I Cant see back there!
Man: just ease the tower forward untill you can see
Woman: It's right forward, i can't see because its dark
Man: Dark? do you not have a light on?
Woman: No, the light isnt working either, i thought it may have been a power cut, but i saw the bus go by, and it was fully lit up, so i knew it couldnt be.
    Man: !!??!?
Man: Do you still have the box and instructions?
    Woman: Yes, why?
Man: I'm afraid you need to take it back to the shop.
Woman: Really? is it that serious?
Man: Nope, your just TOO BL**&&% STUPID TO OWN A COMPUTER!!!!!
