Default I've had it with FF

    Hi all,

Further to our discussion on FF Optimising Firefox , I'm still having major problems upgrading to 10 from 7. I'm running XP by the way.

So far I've tried deleting in Add/Remove .. it just flickers a couple of times and does nothing. Tried using Ccleaner's uninstall to no effect. Tried MSs uninstall utility .. no joy. I've also tried all this in Safe Mode. There was at one point an uninstaller for FF (earlier versions I think) but it no longer seems to be available.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Canuck, just another suggestion to add to Joe's, found here :

Uninstalling Firefox | How to | Firefox Help

If the Uninstall Wizard [via Add and Remove] does not run, you can start it manually, by running helper.exe, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    (32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe
    (64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe
    Good luck
Today is the dawn of another error ...

Hi Joe & Steph, Thank you both for the info, Revo was a no-go as was helper.exe. I would like to upgrade without losing all my settings if possible, but in a pinch I'd do that too.

    Hi Canuck, how frustrating.

I'm not sure how up to date the information is in the following article and whether it's relevant for the latest versions but is there something in it that you haven't tried yet? Uninstalling Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
