Hi Zep516, I've attempted to re-install the game with admin rights but still nothing seems to be happening, is there a plan.B?

Sorry I do not have a plan B. All I see are difficulties with a lot of windows 7 users with this game. I don't like running old games like this on new systems, you're likely to encounter more issues as you go along even if you get it installed. I've exhausted all my thoughts and ideas on the matter. Sorry I could not be of more assistance, but going into this problem we knew there could be a compatibility issue with the game, and may have to face the facts that this game may not run on your machine.

If DonnaB has a plan B, hey that sounds funny, I'm sure she will present it to you..

Only plan B DonnaB can think of is to direct you to the publisher of the games site for further assistance.

    Rockstar Support

I also found this site for finding out if the game is compatible or not. Never used it myself so I can't share any results with you:

    System Requirements Labs

Unless of course you, Zep516, can get your die hard game fanatic nephew to join and share his genius with us!

Well I must admit that's a good Plan B, DonnaB and I knew you wouldn't walk away without great input. I will contact my nephew about it.

I'm reading alot about NVidia drivers being the cause, and a hex-edit fix (but this is a last resort)

Try updating your graphics driver first:

    Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

(i'm in the uk, so the link may break for you. If so, go here: World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies | NVIDIA and click the "download drivers" link)

    @ Mr Darn.

He is in England. Is that a positve thing concerning the link?

The link I provided above suggested to install DirectX 9.0. The fella tried to install it but was told he had the latest version which was DirectX 11. I'm thinking that he would have reverted back to version 9.0 because it is an older game and it is not supported by version 11.

Compatibility mode was also discussed along with downloading and installing a patch version 1.05 for the full game.

Also in the link BugMeister stated:

it installed OK on my rig - runs a bit "lumpy", mouse doesn't flow too well
    but its playable, at least..

I installed the patch 1.01 from Rockstar Games - that seems to be the right one..
That thread is 7 months old.

I came across several threads that suggested updating the Graphics Drivers, too! I hope that is the answer. My fingers are crossed.

@ Zep....LOL! I only suggested your nephew because we both know the extremes he'll go to to make a game play. His ability to tweak is scary.
