Default ACER Laptop not booting up.

    Hello all,

    I hope you can help?

I have an ACER Laptop computer that is about two and half years old, I have had no problems with it until now. I used it briefly yesterday and everything was fine, I closed it down and everything was normal.

I came to try and use it today but when I started it up it went to the ACER introduction screen and then stopped on a windows one saying it can't boot up because the following file is missing or corrupt!?!

    \windows\system32\config\system

I have searched the internet and there are various ways to repair this but all the ones I've read need a back up Windows XP disk which ACER didn't give me. Or the options that don't ask for a disk don't work !!

Is there anyone out there who has any suggestions ???

    Thanks.
