Default nVidia GeForce 7600 GT not detected

I recently updated my nVidia driver, and upon doing so my system stopped recognizing my graphics card. I uninstalled all drivers, and restarted. The system recognized the card again, but when I tried a clean install of the drivers I get an error message saying they are missing or corrupted. I tried the drivers on the disc my card came with, as well as drivers from nVidia's website. What do I need to do to get this thing back on it's feet?

A couple of possible fixes, 1) Do a System Restore to before this happened, or 2) uninstall the drivers > download and install ccleaner ( www.ccleaner.com ) use the default settings > reboot (you should get default graphics .. very big resolution) > download and reinstall the latest driver > reboot. Keep us posted.

I have a lot of personal experience with the 7600 and it's so-called drivers! There was a time when I was installing 1 year old drivers just to get up and running. In the end, after a lot of searching and talking to other users, I had to face the fact that Nvidea drivers are horrendous and the cause of lots of seemingly unconnected errors. Try Googling '7600 problems'!!

In the end, I binned the whole caboodle and replaced it with a Gigabyte Radeon HD2600 XT, since when I've had no problems. *fingers crossed*
