    Default windows service pack 3 never installed properly and crashed the computer

    hi guys
    my mothers computer crashed whilst installing windows sp3
    when i got there it was on the black screen with start computer in safe mode / normal mode /last known good config etc
    none of these options responded when selected so i unplugged the power cord from the computer left a few mins and on restart encounterred the same problem i restarted it as before once again and before it could go beyond the blue screen pressed f10 to recover pc this worked but i now have no internet connection on start up i get the add new hardware wizard which trys to reinstall Ip100100/100 fast ethernet adapter driver
    and cannot find the file ipfnd51.sys
    i have searched my own system for this file as we both have xp home but had no luck
    can anyone help please

    Depending on your computer's manufacturer, it should be available for download from their website. It may also be called a LAN driver.

    Be very wary of sites offering the file for free download. They invariably include malware.
