    Smile question about ram install 2, 2gigs or 4, 1gigs.

    Hi i have a Dimension desktop C521 and it looks to take DDR2 SDRAM and it will hold up to 4 gigs of ram and has 4 slots. i wonder....4, 1gigs or 2, 2 gigs im buying some now and i just want to know what will be best can my computer run 2, 2 gigs to reach 4 gigs or do i need all slots with 1 to reach 4?

    Your Dell Dimension can support up to 4GB of memory. For optimal performance install the maximum amount of memory in each socket.

    Although the BIOS will address 4GB of memory, the amount available to the system will be less than 4GB depending on computer resources.

    Modules must be purchased and installed in pairs for dual channel performance.

    hey i appreciate it..... ill buy two sets of 2 gigs all together modules ok...i see they sell like pairs of 2 with 2 gigs all together....so each slot will prob handle only 1 gig i bet instead of say two 2 gigs in two slots allright.....
