    Default MS Excel equivalent?

Hi. Me again. I am attempting to switch email providers and I'm hung up on the import contacts phase. The tutorial said to highlight and copy the old contact list and then to open "MS Excel", which I do not have. What is/are the equivalents to Excel? It said something about using commas. Also, where do I make gmail my default email?

It's likely you don't need Excel. Most email programs offer the ability to export and import address books in a variety of formats. The most common is .CSV which stands for Comma Separated Values.

So, just export as a .csv file, and import that file into your new email client. This will explain.

To make Gmail your default, follow these instructions.

I get the gist, but I'm still sort of lost on how to create csv. First off, how do I create a spreadsheet like the instructions dictate?

You don't need to create a csv file. Your current email client will probably have the option to export your address book or contact list as a .csv file. What email client are you trying to export from?

Looking good so far. But how can I selectively re-route to the new account? Will I have to edit all my profiles?

Not quite sure what you mean by that. Can you explain further?

Will I have to go to every contact and announce my new e address?
