    Default windows nircmd.exe

    Hi all,
    New to this site and also new to computers , please be patient.
    Q: The sound on my windows xp has gone not sure how but this message keeps popping up ( c\windows\system32\drivers\nircmd.exe ) all i know is that audio for my media is in system 32 but i cant find nircmd or rather the computer dont recognise it.
    At the same time this occured my phone wont connect to pc via usb even though it was fine previously. Please can anyone help me? even though i am not the best of pupils due to my speed and lack of knowledge

    Hi and welcome. The file in question is used by a program called ComboFix as well as others. Have you used this program in the past to get rid of malware from your PC? What exactly does the message say (word for word)?
