Default DVD's don't play from my pc

    Hallo people.
I want to play my DVD's from my pc.Nero 8 says I should buy some kind of a decoder, media player does not recognise them and powerdvd a)does not run and b) it says that new dvd's with Dolby Digital will not have sound due to new agrement with the company.....
What do you propose? Should I buy the decoder for Nero or should I buy something else like windvd? Is there something else I should do?
I should tell you I don't know much about computers...

The one thing that crosses my mind is, is that the DVD is from a different region than the player. Did you buy your PC or DVD from a different country?

Here's an excellent article with links covering the encoding for Dolby http://www.dolby.com/uploadedFiles/z...coding.DVD.pdf It's in .pdf format, so you'll need Adobe reader or Foxit pdf reader.
