    Default Changing default line length

I'm currently using Yahoo to send emails, but the line length expands from the typed 70 or so characters, in 10pt, in HTML, to a difficult-to-read 130 characters when sent. Using plain text, I get the same 70 plus characters (smaller default font size but with more word space) and the text expands to about 105 characters, which is more readable than HTML not only because of the smaller line length but because there is more space between lines.

I don't mind using plain text occasionally--the lines could be shorter but they are still readable at the default setting. But I prefer to use HTML because of the formatting options. Can either format be reset to give me a shorter and more readable line?
    Thanks, Aldo
