    Default JavaScript Error in Firefox

My computer is an HP Compaq dc7600 CMT base unit running XP Professional.

I am encountering a JavaScript application error in Firefox that is not present in IE.

In Firefox, the error is preventing me from making entries into my Google calendar (and perhaps other things that I am not aware of).

    The error message reads:

    JavaScript Application

Error: Permission Denied to get property location.href
Basically, I am a "user" and not a technical person and I have no experience with JavaScript mods. Therefore, what, if anything can be done to correct the error?

    Thanks.

    Hi

Could you attempt to run firefox in safe mode not to be confused with windows safe mode , right click the firefox icon and choose safemode option then try the entries into the calendar.

    Also what version of Firefox?

No go above we can run javaRa program below it will clear out all older versions of
    Java.

Please download JavaRa from here SourceForge.net: JavaRa: Downloading ... unzip it to your desktop.

    • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program. (Windows Vista users Right-click JavaRa.exe > Select Run as Administrator)
    • Click on Remove Older Versions to remove older versions of Java.
    • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

    Reinstall Java if needed:

The latest Java Version would be 6update14? See here---> Java Downloads for All Operating Systems - Sun Microsystems (second 1 down offline one)
Please always include a detailed description of the problem!

    Hi zep516,

    Thanks for replying.

In safemode, Firefox allows access to the Google calendar.

There are two versions of Firefox listed in the add/remove software section of the control panel. One is version 3.0.11 and below it is listed 3.1b1.

However, I don't know how to tell which one actually boots.

So do I still need to run run javaRa?

If you right click on the desktop icon and select Properties, then Find Target, you'll see the executable. Right click on it and select Properties again, then File Version and you'll see which one it is.

I need to look at something first,

I would go ahead an proceed with javaRa, and up- date your java version of java, you can actually do that from the control panel, Click Start, control panel look for java looks like a cup of coffee double click it look for the update option, only install Java uncheck any Toolbars or additional software that wants to be installed.

If you enter your add/remove programs list you can see the Java version installed there should be only 1 installed ---> 6 update 14. if that is installed you don't need to update.

In the web browser when you have it open if you click help at the top and then click about Mozilla firefox This will tell you what version is running ok.

One thing about firefox Safe Mode this is not a solution to the problem it just tells us that an add/on in firefox may be causing an issue I will supply a link for that later.

See this please How to use firefox safe mode-------> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

1.9.0.3439 - that's the version number of the main executable file that runs Firefox - firefox.exe .

Look in Help > About Mozilla Firefox to view the version number.

    This is what i'd
    like to see:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060215 Firefox/3.0.11 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

In the web browser when you have it open if you click help at the top and then click about Mozilla firefox This will tell you what version is running ok.

This is the actual version Firefox/3.0.11

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060215 Firefox/3.0.11

which is different in some respects from what you posted.

    Ok,

That is the latest version good there. Did you run JavaRA? And check your java version as described above in my other post, then see safe mode link i added that to same post above.

The whole idea is to get the calender running in regular firefox mode, so check out the safemode link an how to trouble shoot the add/on that may be causing an issue.

Let me know of other questions

Windows NT 6.0 that's Vista mine.

which is different in some respects from what you posted.
    Windows NT 5.1--yours xp
