neuewohnung, this thread is over 8 months old. I would imagine the original poster has sorted the problem by now, but your info may be useful to others.

    2. Start "Zone alarm" manually (there is no autostart of ZA in safe mode"
    3. The ""ZoneAlarm Security Options" will pop-up
    4. Click "no thank you"
    5. I was waiting one or two minutes, but the main ZA wasn't start proper - don't care
    6. Close Windows 7 and start it in "normal mode" => no more pop-ups

After2 months looking for an answer and finding many that did not work, this is the one that DID work. No more Zone Alarm nag window on startup.

    Default Reasons why this occurs

Both GS3 and neuewohnung are correct. . .
The reason why ZoneAlarm can't disable it's popups is that MicroSoft's annoying
"security" features are preventing both you from using regedit.exe to "fix" the registry
and ZoneAlarm client from updating the registry to reflect the fact that you've declined their offer. You must go into "Safe Mode" and use either method to get
the update the registry fields for ZoneAlarm.

    Personally, I 1) entered Safe Mode 2) Opened regedit.exe
    3) Inserted doubleword key HKCU/Software/Zone Labs/zonealarm/RunUpsellNotice Value >>>> 0

Voila. No more nag screens. . .

    I regard this as a system error for Microsoft windows7 . . .
I should be able to update registry fields in regular windows at my whim,
    NOT Microsoft's . . .

    -K.
