Satellite internet parental control
My husband and I desperately need some way to set up or get a parental control for our internet (Wild Blue) satellite system. There is an individual in our household who stays up all night on the net then sleeps all day instead of fulfilling promises that were made. He's supposed to be here to help us as we're both medically disabled, my husband with closed injury brain trauma. We do not have password access to his computer (he's very smart) and is hardwire into our net through our router. If we try to block that way, he can simply plug directly into the satellite modem by my husbands desktop. PLEASE, somebody help us!!

If he/she is computer smart as you say they will most likely will be able to over - ride any attempt you take to block access. I would consider getting another individual to carry out the necessary responsibilities that are required for you an your husband..

I have checked the Wild Blue site for any info on this, but as both you Zep note, he can easily plug directly into the satellite modem. Can you unplug that modem and lock the door to the office?
This is non of our business, but if what you say is happening, I would look for another care giver as Zep suggests. Have a family member or good friend step in and protect your rights.

I had this problem with my children once.
I did somewhat what canuck suggests with locking the door, only i had the router on a plug timer (the type you get for lamps) so it went on at a certain time, and off at others.
This way i never 'forgot' to unplug the router. Please Note:
The information I provide is based on my own personal computing experience, and research I have done on your behalf.
!!!DO NOT FOLLOW MY ADVICE IF THIS IS A BUSINESS COMPUTER OR YOU RELY ON ITS USE!!!
