Unhappy Emails Disappeared From Outlook Express

When I tried to open one of my email accounts, it said it could not open and I either needed to compact the folders or I did not have enough memory. (My other email accounts worked just fine). I tried compacted folders to no avail. I went to the deleted folder and deleted all deleted emails, to no avail. So I turned off my computer and restarted and when I opened outlook express, it opened up with 15 new emails and all of my previous emails were completely gone. How do I get them back!?

Computer is a Dell desktop Dimension 2400 , windows xp, intel pentium 4 processor 2.660ghz, 128mb, sdram at 333mhz, 40gb 7200 rpm hard drive

I'm thinking that you've compressed your e-mail and it now needs to be decompressed in order to see them. Take a look at this thread Outlook Express compressed several email folders - where are they now? (General technical issues) also check out Why You Should Let Outlook Express Compact Messages When It Asks You - About Email . Hope this helps.
