    Cool Firefox browser: Add-on info. Required

    I have the folowing listed in Add-Ons window;

    Microsoft. NET Framework Assistant 1.1

    Apparently it was installed with SP1 and there are ways it can be removed
    but they look a little too complex for me to attempt! Within the Add-On
    window there are two options, to "disable" or to "uninstall" and at this
    present time I have disabled.

    If possible, can somebody tell me what this extension/application actually
    does and can it be safely uninstalled from running in Firefox and also, would
    it effect my computer in other ways, say if I switched to IE8?

    Glad of any forthcoming information anybody can provide.

    Kind Regards,
    BobbyZee

    You can safely uninstall Microsoft. NET Framework Assistant 1.1 from FF. Some programs rely on various versions of NET in order to be seen/used, if you were to come across one of those programs, it usually will tell you that it needs NET to run and give you a link to download it. It's really not doing any harm , but if you feel you want to get rid of it, go ahead.

    Hi Canuck,
    Many thanks for your reply. Have tried to uninstall from within "Add-On" window, but after restart it still does not uninstall, just keeps asking me to update!
    Still, never mind, I have other troublesome issues with Firefox so I'll go back to IE8 but at least I now know that Micro.NET Framework Installer is safe to disable.
    Kind Regards, BobbyZee
