    Default laptop keeps turning off

My HP Pavillion laptop keeps turning itself off for no reason and without warning. Also, while I typing something, out of the blue, it might erase half of what I typed. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks.

Does it feel warmer then usual? As that could indicate a heat issue. An older battery trying to charge itself can also create a significant heat point, also creating a shutdown issue.

Only just this week i got a laptop in with the same problem.

Check the battery for play, then check the batterys contacts. sometimes grime buildup can make the contacts part, causing an instant shutdown if not on AC power.

As Zep has hinted at, it could be a number of things tho. Do you get any error messages at all?
