    Question no sound on computer

    We just cleaned up computer and are re-installing programs. We have no sound. Computer says no sound device. What do I do.

    You need to download and install the latest driver for your installed sound device. If you let us know the make and model of your machine, together with the version of Windows you have installed, we'll see what we can find.

    If you have a built-in SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio then you need to download and install this driver:
    SIGMATEL

    For "external" Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic you'll need this driver:
    Creative

    This is the full list of all drivers for your machine. You may need more than the Audio driver. If you right click on My Computer and select properties, then the Hardware tab and Device Manager, you'll probably see a yellow exclamation mark against some of the entries. Those are the drivers you need to download.

    If you used the Dell Recovery option, all of those should have been installed automatically.
