Default windows xp professional and zip files

Have lately new installed windows xp on both my laptop and my stationary PC.
    Used the same CD.
Now I tried to install an older Canon scanner by downloading zip file from Canons driver download section.
I cannot get thóse zip files unpacked correctly.
Neither by use of the incorporeted un zip function, nor bu use og 7zip.
I had this scanner well installed half a year ago without any problems.
Now I have got a quite new laptop, and have new installed windows xp on both, and now I cannot get this scanner installed.
Think, further informations may be needed to solve this nuisance, but which?
    Any help highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

The only thing I can think of is that it has been unzipped and saved to another folder. In 7zip double check where it's directing the opened files. The othe possibility is that the Canon file is damaged, try downloading another copy.
