    Default Dvd wont play films

    Hello

I am using a acer 5720 laptop on wimdows 7, I was watching a dvd film this afternoon (well ok it was Ice Age) !!!!! anyway I had to pop out halfway during the film and stopped it.

I came home to resume watching the film and now my dvd drive wont play this or any film that I put in which is very annoying, my dvd/cd will play audio CDs and software CDs but it will not play films.

What can have gone wrong between the time I took the film out switched of my laptop then switched it on again on my return home

System now saying it cannot detect a dvd in the cd rom drive but its in there

    Kind Regards
    Tony

Sounds like a simple suggestion, but have you considered a system restore to yesterday, when it worked fine?

    Default dvd wont play

    hello mr darn

thanks for the reply but i did a system restore already but i did it again after reading your message and still no change.

DVD still wont play although it will play my own recorded dvds but not the films one buys ie: ice age , lord of the rings etc, none of these will play now.

    Shame!

I have found this microsoft solution, but not being too familier with W7 yet, this will have to be my last stab:

My computer will no longer play DVDs but plays CDs

    Default dvd wont play

    hello mr darn

Thank you again i have looked at your suggestion and whilst going through the contents i put a film in the frive and immediately found the problem.

It appears that when I open the cd/dvd/rom to insert the dvd and close it again it doesnt appear to sit quite squarely, as i have to push in one side and hey presto it works.

Think I mgght need a new cd/dvd draw.

    many thanks again
