    Hi lhtims,

To manually create a restore point:

Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

On the Welcome page, click Create a restore point.

On the Create a Restore Point page, enter a descriptive name for your restore point, then click Create.

As for your second request concerning your information bar, see link.

Internet Explorer Information bar: frequently asked questions.

ActiveX may just be turned off (disabled).

    Open IE.

Click on Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab > Click Custom Levels.

Scroll down to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section of the list.

Then, under Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls, click Enable.

Then click Ok to back your way out of Security Settings-Internet Zone and the Internet Options windows.

The info was found in the link provided above.

Here's a link to test your ActiveX controls, if needed.

    ActiveX Test

Let us know if this helps.

If you think you might be infected with malware or have recently cleansed your computer of malware without the help of an expert, please read and follow the instructions in How to Start Removing Viruses and Spyware from your Computer. This can alleviate time consumed in trouble shooting your current computer problems.

If your problem is solved, here's how to say thanks!

on the calendar you will see at the top March with < and after >. Click the < to get the restore points for Feb. If there are none there, then you can not restore to a Feb point.

Hm! I'd never experienced that situation!

    Thanks Canuck for jumping in!

Welcome to Help2Go...post often and have fun

If you mean you do not show the Menu and Favorites...(File Edit View Favorites etc)
Right click Near the top of the page and check the Menu and Favorites option

Unfortunately IE8 default is without the Menu bar

If that was not your question? ...disregard this post
