    Default TCP IP port

Last night i attempted to connect to my wireless router to configure it for a security key code. My Dell D610 ethernet port appears to be dead and would not connect to the router. No indicator light on the laptop port. Normally I would see a light flashing when the port is connected. In my network connections tab I can see the port and the configuration. Any ideas what happened?

Try reinstalling the Network Adapter. Click on Start, Run and type devmgmt.msc in the text box and hit OK.

Look down the list for Network Adapters and click on the + sign. You should see the ethernet controller listed. Right click on it and select Uninstall. Confirm it and close all windows, then restart the computer. The Network Adapter will be reinstalled automatically.
