Question Reinstalling Acer Laptop (no software cd) ?!

    Hey everyone,

I got this laptop Second hand from some collegues. First, it worked good.
But after a year or so, after my brother installed so much programs on it. It became slower and slower. Deleting files, uninstalling programs, Installing virus scans and stuff. Nothing seemed to Really improve the speed and now I think the only option is Re installing my computer.

    My problem:
As i said, this laptop is second hand. So I didn't get any software with it. No XP Cd or anything. I searched the whole house for a XP cd but the only software i could find is Windows 98... I am used to work with XP so i won't use that cd.

My question is, Can i Re-install my laptop without a cd?
I tried the SETUP while starting the pc. By pressing F2 in the ACER screen. But that didn't seem to make anything clear.

PS: i'm sorry for my bad english, it's not that good.

    INFORMATION:

This is all the information i can find

What happens if you do the following...

    1. Turn on the machine
    2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the Alt key and press the F10 key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
    3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings
    4. Click OK to continue
    5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
    6. Once eRecovery has run, press OK to reboot.

At what point does it ask for a password? It isn't usual to do that! How far do you get?

EDIT>> Can you provide the actual model number of the laptop?
