    Default Hot CD drive

I was in the motions of ripping a CD and didn't notice there was a disc already in the tray. After a few seconds of grinding noise I ejected and saw the problem. Now the drive works, but seems to be a little on the warm side. Is there a good chance I did some permanent damage to the motor and/or optics?

Looks like you ejected it quick enough to prevent permanent damage or it would most likely be failing now.

OK guys. The disc drive is acting up. I'm assuming it's time to replace it. Where's the best place to look cost-wise? When shopping around, what do I need to keep in mind? Are all desktop D drives interchangeable? Do I need to stick with Dell? I currently have a TSST corp DVD+-RW TS-H653B. Any suggestions on compatability?

There are hundred to choose from....make sure you pick the correct cable....usually IDE or Sata

This is a link to Tiger Direct ....they are also brick and mortor....called CompUSA
If you have a CompUSA you can buy it from the shelf and save shipping, because both places are the same company

You can check Amazon or just google the item and compare from several sources....no need to spend more than $20 bucks
Just check that they meet your requirements like + and - DVD etc...good luck...abs

I am sure other members may have other choices too
