Laptop freezes in normal mode, but works fine in safe mode
I have a toshiba satellite and for the past few months in normal mode it would freeze every few minutes and than start working again. Recently it has been freezing completely for long periods of time when it is started in normal mode, but doesn't freeze at all when in safe mode. It has shut off on it's own a couple of times when in safe mode though.

Working OK in Safe mode suggests there are many programs running in the background. Follow abseh1's suggestions and if they don't help, checking how many programs are running should be the next step.

model is a toshiba A205 and im using windows vista
i've run the spyware tools before...i had help from the spyware forum on this site when the problem first started, but they weren't able to help fix the problem
Normal mode has been pretty much unusable and it took me 4-5 different tries to finally get task manager up and it says that there are 84 processes running.

All the above in blue are not necessary for the safe running of your laptop, but do take up RAM which slows down bootup times and smooth running. If you wish to stop these from running (this does not delete the programs .. you can access them either through All Programs or short cuts you create on the desktop) by running HJT, putting a check mark next to each line (noted in blue) and then click the 'Fix Checked' button. You will probably need to reboot your laptop ... if you decide in the future to reactivate any or all those you've stopped running, go back into HJT and reactivate.

Run ccleaner using the default settings (do not use the registry cleaner that is included, or any registry cleaner as they can cause more problems than they can fix) after which do a defragmentation of the main drive (usually C: drive). If still not responding well, submit a new HJT log and we'll take a look.

i did everything u said so far, but im still having problems...i also had to run HJT on safe mode because when I tried to run it on normal mode i got an error saying "For some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this. If that happens you need to edit the file yourself. To do this click start, run, and type : notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"
It also said something about running it in administrator mode, but there's only 1 account on this computer and it's the administrator
here's the new hjt log though

The following can be stopped as they are not required for the running of your laptop .. they use RAM (memory) in particular I think the cisco entry may use quite a bit. I've checked these entries out at SystemLookup - Global Search just copy and paste the last part of the entry eg CCAAgentLauncher.exe .. and search. The code N given = Not Needed and U = user's choice.

Another thought, I don't know if I missed it before, but how much free space do you have on the hard drive .. My Computer > double click on it and it will tell you Total Size and Free Space on drive C.
