    Default vista cpu running to slow

    i have a computer that runs windows vista home premium. in the past i has worked wonderfully but a couple years ago i got this virus so i hired a guy to reboot my comuter and i have done it a few times since then but it does not fix the problem. the problem is that my computer specs says it should be running on a cpu of 2000mhz but i used a software to show you how much the computer is actually running and it said the computer is running only800mhz can some one tell me why that is and how to fix it?

    What type of computer and model?

    Are you having other problems besides the CPU speed report?

    This is most common in notebooks and laptops

    Processors have speed throttling built in them...this is normal in many CPU's and Windows does not always report correctly

    There is software that is more exact than windows...the BIOS settings are sometimes a cause too

    I personally believe it is actually running 2.0 mhz...and runs as needed
    ============================================

    The CPU speed varies from about 44% to 100% of the max

    This is most common to AMD and laptops to save battery power

    You can run the applications in my signature below

    (I was guessing this is a laptop)

    You might try setting your Power Properties page to 'Always On'.

    That should lock it at full speed on the power cord adapter...but It'll still run slower on battery and use more battery power in the battery option

    You have issues but you need to follow the other instructions too (reference malware)
    You may have a virtual memory problem....but normally windows does a good job of auto setting virtual memory as long as the HDD has sufficient space available

    How much space is available on your HDD?

    my laptop is always on with an adapter never on battery power. and i have restored my system multiple time and it has not fixed the problem so if i had enough space in the hdd the computer did not fix my virtual memory or that simply is not the problem

    my friend also suggests that i remove windows vista and add windows 7. He believe there is a chance that might fix it. What do you think?
