Default HP Charger or universal charger Dv4 abd Dv5

I have a dv4 and a dv5 both by HP, I live in central america and we get power spikes form time to time. BOTH of my chargers have burnt out or work intermittently- so I purchased a NEW nobutel 90 Universla charger with 11 tips incldiding a HP tip. It works fine on my dv5 but does not work on the dv4- has HP put some kind of block on third party chargers in the newer models? is there a way around this. I put both computers next to each other and move the charger from one to the other and the light comes on jsut fine for the dv5 but NOt the dv4- I am baffled.

Could be a bad power socket inside your computer.... take it to a repair shop

They may look @ it for free, or test it for a small fee
Then repair it for a fee, as part of the test for free agreement

I can tell you from my "in home" diagnosis it is NOT a bad power socket BECAUSE when I use the HP charger it works. I BELIEVE that HP has done something with the newer models to protect there aftermarket sales of chargers. I have TWO HP chargers one is toast but the other one still functions (occasionally not) but WHEN the HP charger IS working I plug it into BOTH the DV5 and the DV4 successfully. BUT the NOBUTECH will only work in the DV5- has anyone heard of such a thing that HP may have done and IF so - is there a resolution or am I forced to buy an HP charger?
