My roomates computer is the problem. Everytime she types she gets numbers instead of letters. When she logs in to her computer she is able to type her password but everything else no. Google search, facebook ect. We have run norton virus scan, norton power eraser and even this malware bytes. Still hasnt resolved issue. Shoud we reboot the whole computer

Rebooting simply means restarting the computer I'm sure you tried that. It's sounds like you could have an infection or a complete hardware failure. You could just reinstall your windows software or do a factory recovery using the disks you have, I think that is what you meant by "reboot the whole computer".


Edit I have been informed by another user that the NUM Key on the key board may be stuck or malfunctioning. Make sure it's not stuck down or something is jammed in the NUM Key causing it to stay depressed.

So when getting to facebook or etc, I'm assuming she's using a bookmarked page? And since she is able to type in her password, it might be an error with how the computer is reading the keyboard. (on newer laptops you can change the layout of the board, and how it works.) If she can get into control panel and maybe reset the keyboard options?

Hopefully it's something simple like that, and not a bigger problem with the hard drive, or maybe an easy fix with the numkey as Zep mentioned in the previous post.

Thanks Collegekid, I'm not a laptop user and forgot about the possibility of the Num being stuck. A Member here DonnaB had informed me of that possibility and I quickly made an edit to the post thereafter. Hopefully that does it for the user.
