using firefox, although signed in to blogger, cannot comment
OS on C drive, total capacity 16GB, 7.48 used. Windows XP Pro. FireFox browser. My main HDD is 2TB but divided into three partitions - C, D and E.
When I go to private blogs of which I am a member, my login details show top right as normal. However, my ID is not shown where I try to comment - that is blank. The same with open blogs and when I try to go to blogs of which I am an administrator, Firefox cannot find the link or the blogger dashboard remains blank.
I have previously used the Firefox AddOn NoScript but as it caused so much difficulty I stopped using it generally. When I visit what looks like a doubtful site, I enable NoScript, allowing if necessary. Afterwards, I disable NoScript again. With the not being able to comment on blogger problem, enabling or disabling NoScript seems to make no difference.
I periodically use WinZip Utilities Suite and did so this morning. The above problem has been since then. Don't know if this has any relevance.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi dorple,
If everything was fine before using WinZip, I would say there's a strong possibility that may have caused the issue. WinZip includes a Registry cleaner. We advise not to use this or any registry cleaner as there have been reports of them clearing out needed registry entries and messing up PCs. In addition, what they do clean up is so small that little or no advantages are noticed.I periodically use WinZip Utilities Suite and did so this morning. The above problem has been since then. Don't know if this has any relevance.
Modifying registry keys incorrectly can cause Windows instability, or make Windows unbootable. No registry cleaner is completely safe and the potential is ever present to cause more problems than they claim to fix.
Registry cleaners cannot distinguish between good and bad. If you run a registry cleaner, it will delete all those keys which are obsolete and sitting idle; but in reality, those keys may well be needed by some programs or windows at a later time.
Try a System Restore to a time before you used WinZip. That may undo the changes made by WinZip if that was the cause.

Hello DonnaB. Many thanks for the advice. Problem solved and all is okay now. I'm grateful for the advice on the Winzip thing too as I reckon that has given me a lot of problems before. All I have to do now is get rid of it!

Hi dorple,
I'm so happy you got this situation sorted out.
May I ask if you would share with us what solved your problem? This could help many who have the same problem.
You can uninstall Winzip from your Add/Remove programs in the Control panel.
Let us know if you have any issues uninstalling the program. We'd be more then happy to help.

Hi DonnaB.
I did a Restore as you suggested and all seemed okay for quite a while. Would there be any value in using the Winzip Utilities Suite but without the Registry bits do you think? My computer has now slowed drastically though - the cursor moves jerkily on the screen and music played from the hard drive flutters much of the time. I did a scan using Winzip Utilities Suite (which is still installed) and the results for "Status of junk files and folders" was 1184 issues found and for "status of Internet and other privacy traces" 32864 issues found. I did not carry out Optimization. Before I began the scan I excluded the Registry and Defrag options.

Hi dorple,
I'm sorry for the delay in responding. Very long work day for me.
I'm going to be completely honest with you. I find no value what so ever using WinZip Utilities Suite or any other PC system utilities application such as Advanced System Optimizer, WinUtilities, Advanced System Care, System Mechanic, SpeedUpMyPC by Uniblue, etc. just to name a few of those programs we encourage PC users to steer away from. The damage that those types of software cause over time can be irreparable.
- Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
- Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
- A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
- Notepad will open with the results.
- Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
- Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Thank you,
Donna
