    Default Printer problem

I run a Toshiba Satellite L750 with Windows 7 while she who must be obeyed runs a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista. Both are connected by bluetooth to an HP Photosmart D7400 printer. The problem is that printing with the Dell laptop throws out a blank sheet of paper after each printed page. I have looked on the interbet for solutions and all I have been able to find is that is a problem with Vista. So far, I haven't found a solution. Can anyone help?

    Hi RDL (waves)

I know very little about printers and not sure if this will help but it is a shot in the dark. This may be the way the printer is set up.

What you might need to do is choose print preview then choose print, but, click on the option that says, print 1 page only and not the option where it says all.

This might help, too, though you might have seen it!

Also, check the page setup and print setup options.

if it prints one blank page for each printed one, the width is incorrect. if its one blank page per set of prints, its the height.

Does it do it with everything? just MicroShaft word? Just Notepad? just *insert option here* <repeat>

are your computers running windows XP or Vista? because in Vista, if it uses the pre-installed drivers that come with the OS, then it prints blank sheets between the printed sheets. if you install the driver from the CD directly, then it has resolved the issue a lot of times for me.

so to the properties of the printer, and go to the Advanced Tab, and click in New Driver. and in teh wizard, select HP Photosmart 'C7200' and not Photosmart '7200' (considering it is the Photosmart C7280). that should work.

My blessings on you both. Tried all advice offered and was going through Zep's advice by right clicking on printer/properties/advanced when I noticed that the new driver box was greyed out. I also noticed that the printer name box was a drop down menu. It was set on HP Photosmart 7400. I dropped the menu to see HP Photosmart D7400 listed. This is the actual name of our printer model. I selected this and clicked apply. Ran a printer test and all works perfectly. It would appear that the "D" in the title of the printer model makes all the difference. As you good people would say, go figure. Anyway thanks again. Back to the Olympics.

Just had an idea, check that the correct printer is selected before you print....

    Nice fix RDL!!
