Hdd Problems
My pc is detecting my hdd in Bios
im running an Asus psn -d mb, with 4 g ram, an intel dual core processor and a pci ati sapphire card, untill yesteday i had two internal hdd one western digtal 250g and one seagate 1tb both sata drives,my computer froze up and i restarted, and this is where the issues started, got a bsod saying unmountable boot volume, so opened up the case to see if there was any loose connections etc, not that i could see.
so turned everything back on and then only one sata drive was showing my dvd drive wasnt showing up either, so swapped the cables about too see if that was the problem, nope still no joy
now no drives are showing have swapped out my sata dvd drive for an ide one and that is showing up in bios,
have try to put in a ide hdd but that isn't showing up either
i have tried to see if the drives are geting power but dont think they are( can't hear them spinning up or anythng)
so im at a complete loss where to turn next, im thinking it may be a faulty power lead that isnt getting jucie to the drives, everything else is powered up, systems fans x 2 , card fan, and ide dvd drive are all getting powe.habe managed to boot using a external hdd with linux on it, so it shouldnt be a mb issue as then it wouldnt boot at all.
Any help or pointers would be great

Any new hardware lately?
Is the IDE drive showing or not?now no drives are showing have swapped out my sata dvd drive for an ide one and that is showing up in bios,
have try to put in a ide hdd but that isn't showing up either
If you have tried other known working HDD's and the same result is occurring, then cheapest check is a new IDE/SATA HDD ribbon. Next is to get the power supply checked.
Power down to brass tacks. unplug anything that does not need to be powered (CD drives, Floppys, etc) and try booting with the basics. If you can, try another lead from the bunch to power just 1 HDD, then 2 if the first powers.
I think you may be right. If not the ribbon, it looks like an overworked/failing power supply, both of which will need replaced; whichever the case may be.Always remember you're unique.
...Just like everyone else!
If your problem is solved, here's how to say thanks!

Windows Vista

Try the following:
Windows 7 Directions:
1. Boot from the Windows 7 DVD.
2. Select Repair my computer.
3. Select Command Prompt
4. From the command prompt enter the following command: Chkdsk /R C: where “C” is your boot drive.
5. Answer Y to check the disk the next time that the system restarts.
6. Reboot the system. After the reboot, Windows will check the hard disk and try to repair the damaged area.
7. If you still get the error after this process, repeat the process but try rebuilding the master boot record at the command prompt with the following command: bootrec /fixboot and then rebooting
If your system can be saved, you should now be able to boot back into Windows without a problem!SIGNATURE...When I post info I assume you have already read this link
