Default Speakers/volume icon is gone from the task bar

    Hello experts:
I have a Toshiba Satellite with windows 7 and an Intell I7.
My volume icon is gone from the botton of my screen, I went to the control panel/sound and I have volume but I can not install the speakers/volume Icon at the botton of the screen.
I did open the system window and it shows the speakers OFF, I did click on it to ON bot it is faded and I can not restore the speakers icon.
    What can I do?
    Thank you all!!

    1. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double Click on the Multimedia icon. In the ‘Playback’ area, make sure that the ‘Show volume control on the taskbar’ box has a check in it. If it does not, put one in it and click on APPLY and then on OK. The icon should now appear on the taskbar near the clock.
    2. If it has a check mark but the box is grayed out and you cannot access it, look at the ‘Preferred Device:’ make sure that it reads ESS AudioDrive Playback. If it does not, click on the down arrow at the right and select it from the list of devices shown. Once this is selected, the Volume box should allow you to put a check mark in it.

If these steps do not work....I still have a few ideas
